A request on whether to annex 34 acres of property into the city was approved handily by Sherwood voters Tuesday night. At 9 p.m. Measure 34-168 was passing by almost an 80 percent margin.
At issue was whether to annex property in the city’s northern boundary. The annexation area is located north of Southwest Tualatin-Sherwood Road and west of Arrow Street, southeast of Highway 99W. The area contains a PGE power substation and overhead transmission lines. The property was brought into the urban growth boundary by Metro to allow for the extension of Southwest Adams Avenue to eventually make a connection between Tualatin-Sherwood Road and Highway 99W.
The measure passed with 1,614 residents voting “yes” and 428 voting “no.”
