ADVERTISEMENTS
CLACKAMAS — The Sherwood Junior Federal (ages 11-12) JBO baseball team relied all season on a deep, talented pitching staff.
That pitching staff, combined with some strong defense and some good hitting, helped propel the Sherwood squad to the championship of the Junior Federal state tournament.
Sherwood claimed the tournament title win a win over Clark County in the championship game played July 18 at North Clackamas Park.
Adam Olsen picked up the pitching win for Sherwood in the championship game. All he did was pitch a complete-game no-hitter. He had 12 strikeouts and two walks. One other Clark County batter got on base due to an error.
Still, Sherwood found itself in a 0-0 tie with Clark County before breaking through in the fourth inning. Chase Crawford, Jess Hatfield and Brendon Wexted-Hand all had singles in the frame to help Sherwood take a 2-0 lead.
